On August 25, 2025, Attorney Elisa Wang was invited by Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (“UNAM”) to deliver a keynote speech at the university’s Second International Congress on Private Law: Reconstruction and Outlook. Her presentation titled “Interpretation of Key Revisions to the New Company Law in P. R. China.”

As one of Latin America’s leading universities, UNAM provides an important academic platform for international legal dialogue. The five-day conference brought together nearly 80 experts and scholars around the world, including Australia, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Russia, Switzerland, the United States, and China. Participants included leading academics, judges, arbitrators, and partners from law firms. The conference aimed to promote academic exchange and comparative law study in private international law, while deepening understanding of how private law is evolving in the digital age.

On the first day of the conference, Attorney Elisa Wang delivered her keynote speech. She provided a structured overview of the background of the amendments, their principal provisions, and their significance for modern corporate governance. Drawing on her extensive practical experience in international trade and overseas investment, she examined key reforms, including changes to the capital contribution regime, the introduction of a single-tier governance structure, the expansion of the powers of the board of directors, and improvements to the rules governing corporate resolutions. Through comparative legal analysis and examination of the underlying institutional framework, she explained the broader implications of these changes for corporate governance in China and cross-border investment.

Attorney Elisa Wang’s participation brought insights from Chinese legal practice to an international forum on private law. Her presentation offered an in-depth analysis of the reforms introduced by China’s new Company Law and their implications for corporate governance. She also exchanged views with international peers, providing an opportunity to share perspectives on China’s evolving legal framework and showcase the expertise of Chinese lawyers in cross-border legal practice.
